About Me
My love of Italy and Italian Wine
In 2000, a good friend — who had just sold his successful London wine merchant business and moved to Siena — introduced me to the legendary Giuseppe Sesti at Castello di Argiano in Montalcino. Captivated, by the end of my visit, I was the proud owner of two barrels of Brunello di Montalcino 1997.
That moment sparked the creation of The Winemakers Club, which soon began importing wines from across Italy to the UK and later opened its own wine bar in London.

A new beginning

Along the way, I deepened my knowledge through the Wine & Spirit Education Trust and further studies at Plumpton College in Sussex.
However, my love affair with Italy truly began in 1967, when I met my wife Mary while on holiday at Lake Garda. After she tragically passed away from cancer in 2016, I made the decision — at the age of 71 — to fulfil my lifelong dream of making my own wine in Italy.
